Holding On…

Advertisements

They say, “You should let go of the past.”

Of everything that is hurting you…

No matter how beautiful the memories were…”

No matter how badly you were treated.”

I hear it, I hear it all.

But, I ask myself, “How?”

How do I let it go?
How do I forget the love, the attachment, the pain, the insults, the mocking?

How do I forget how they made me feel?
Whether it was good or the bad, both of it hurts equally.

I don’t want to feel the hurt. But the hurt is hurting me,
It is beyond my control.

I’ve stopped crying, you won’t see a tear drop of my eyes.
But, my soul cries everyday.

Everyday, thinking about what I went through.
Even though I don’t think about it, my heart sinks for no reason at all.

I know, I’m hurting myself by holding on to it,
Yes, I should let go of these feelings that I’m holding on…. But, tell me how?

So far, this is probably one of my favorite, I love the picture and your take on it. I only want to know who “they” are and what do they know? You cannot fully let go nor should you, only not let it rule your life. You cannot ever forget, nor should you. Like your eyes, the soul will stop crying. All lessons learned are valuable, hence the circumstances around those lessons have meaning. The splash of red represented by this hurt surrounded by beautiful colors leading into and out of it are part of an undescribable beauty on the whole tapestry of life.

LET THEM FALL -By Sarah Elle Emm

        Let them fall,
        Free me from the weight,
They’ve left more than a mark,
        Let them fall,
        They served their purpose,
I’ll be wary of the dark.

        Let them fall,
All of the burdens that are pressing on my heart,
        Let them fall,
It’s time to shed the past,
        I welcome a fresh start.
